It’s been a few weeks since Gen Con, and we’ve finally pulled together most of the data from the event. I’ll share more of the details soon, as well as a link to a survey to gather feedback, but for now, here’s a summary:
– 354 game sessions run
– 92 distinct games (not including scenario variations)
– 232 two-hour games
– 122 four-hour games
– 1667 players seated
Nicely done, everyone! Thanks to the volunteers for helping to make it happen, and to the many players who joined us this year!
Gen Con 2013 is now only one week away, and our Games on Demand event this year will be bigger and better than ever! The event will be held in the Convention Center on the second floor overlooking the Exhibitor Hall in room 237. We’ll be running games from 10am-midnight on Thursday through Saturday and 10am-4pm on Sunday. Come play with us!
This is only tangentially related to GoD but if you are into GoD this may excite you. Also we may poach GoD space after hours if that is possible.
There are a bunch of us who are really into focused live action games, American Freeform, parlor larps and the like, and we are all bringing crazy stuff to try out and share. I’d like to discuss this, make some rough plans, figure out the logistics, and see who is interested.
At Origins this year there was a Jeepform sampler (Previous Occupants and Lady & Otto), a session of The Tribunal, and my big game Sirai got run twice. At Gen Con there will be more people and more game!
So: If you are bringing stuff you’d like to run, shout it out here. If you definitely want to try some live action games, shout out here. If you have a line on a good play space … shout out here.
Games on Demand for #Origins 2013 is building up steam. three sessions a day Thursday through Saturday, with a bonus on Sunday morning in case you didn’t get enough. You can find listings for the event in the Master Event Grid and everything!
Somewhat belatedly, here are the stats we gathered during the Games on Demand event at PAX East 2013. Overall it was a very popular event and we stayed busy most of the time. We started each day a little later than last year (around 2pm) and ran until midnight on Friday and Saturday.
In that time, we ran roughly 99 games for 443 players over the 26 hours or so that we were open. We had 21 official volunteers, but we were joined on the ground by other great, enthusiastic friends who helped us hold down the host table and fill in the gaps in our schedule.
Here are the games run over the whole event, ordered by frequency: Continue reading
Games on Demand at PAX East was a blast this year. Our awesome volunteer GMs kept 8-10 tables running almost constantly and there were many great games. The event was located in an excellent spot across from the Indie Bazaar, Burning Wheel/Memento Mori/Dungeon World, and Modern Myths booths which created an exciting atmosphere.
